| Words of welcome from Pastor KenWe welcome you to Grace United Methodist Church online! We hope you will use this website to become acquainted with your neighbors and to strengthen your bonds to Christ’s Church. Grace is a relatively young congregation situated within the Chattanooga District of the Holston Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. We are an assembly of believers who are "on the move for Christ" as we cast our nets out to a lost and dying world.
We have been called to work in God's harvest field which includes our surrounding community and the world. We are excited that "the harvest is plentiful" as we seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world! Under this main heading, we are a community of believers who are seeking to have a "habitual love for God and neighbor." This is how the Founder of Methodism, John Wesley, defined Christian Perfection!
This said, we do not claim to be perfect, nor do we believe that anyone achieves a kind of perfection (living without any sin) in this lifetime. And so we feel comfortable declaring that Grace United Methodist Church is a place where "No Perfect People are Allowed." We seek persons with "messy lives"-- the marginalized, the outcast, the poor, the disenchanted, the disenfranchised, those who doubt, those who have been hurt by ‘the church’, and the list could go on and on. We seek to live in the kind of community that does not pass judgment, but instead, embodies the riches of God’s kindness, tolerance and patience (see Romans 2:4) toward all!
If you are not a part of this community, we pray you will join us as we seek to live out the Great Commission of God made known to us through Jesus Christ our Lord!
Your Servant in Christ,
Reverend Kenneth Emerson Sauer
